The Ant on the Rembrandt

Imagine for a moment that an ant had gotten into a museum and crawled onto a painting done by the artist Rembrandt. It took one look at it and said I'm not impressed with this painting.

What the ant sees with its very limited vision is only a small part of the whole painting, and hence, not a very accurate description. Stepping back to see the whole painting is obviously a better way to appreciate it.

What we know and understand about the body is seen from a similarly limited view. Despite all the knowledge that we have about anatomy and physiology, it is estimated that we only know about 1/10 of 1% of what the body does. The other 99.9% is still a mystery to us.

It is very humbling to admit that we know so little. Thankfully our bodies don't have to wait for us to catch up and figure out how it all works. We all express an innate intelligence, defined as the principle of organization in all living organisms that results in the ability of a living organism to organize and reorganize its physiology in order to adapt and survive in an ever-changing environment. This intelligence animates, coordinates, adapts, heals and grows you from a single cell into the person that you are.

As long as there is no interference in our nerve systems (subluxation), this intelligence can be expressed freely throughout our bodies and perform its duties. The purpose of a chiropractic adjustment is to remove this interference.

This is why it is so important to make sure you and your loved ones get checked regularly.
